Introduction:
Each
document
in
the
BMET
Library
has
terms
of
copyright
and
use.
Documents
are
sorted
into
four
categories
based
on
rules
for
modification,
distribution,
and
copying
of
each
document.
Brief
information
about
rights
can
be
found
in
the
description
of
each
document
on
the
BMET
Library
website.

Terms for full books are the same for excerpts and chapters of books and vice versa. Documents are sorted into four categories: 1. Modify, Distribute, and Copy. 2. Modify, Distribute, and Copy with the inclusion of applicable license. 3. Distribute and Copy. CANNOT modify. 4. CANNOT Modify, Distribute, or Copy. This guide will give further information about copyright and use and explain the terms of use for each document in the BMET library. A Glossary of Terms is included on page 2 of this guide.

Glossary of Terms: Modify: Modification means changing a document in the BMET Library. Some Examples of Modification: • Changing the layout of a document. • Removing sections of text or images from a document. • Adding text or images to a document. • Any changes or alterations to the original document. Distribute: Distribution means sharing or giving out copies of documents in the BMET Library to other people. This includes giving documents from the BMET Library to others via digital or physical means. Some Examples of Distribution: • Giving copies to others via digital means (emails, text messages, posting on other websites or blogs, etc.) • Giving copies to someone via physical means (printouts, handwritten copies, photographs, etc.) Copy: Copying means creating a reproduction or facsimile of a document in the BMET Library. Some Examples of Copying: • Taking screenshots or photographs. • Copying and pasting text or diagrams to another document. • Making Xerox copies of printed material. • Typing the contents of a document verbatim.
